Home-Based Franchise Opportunity Business Review for 2010
78#1 - CarbonCopyPRO
CarbonCopyPRO is the #1 home based franchise opportunity business on the Internet. While not a "true" franchise in the legal sense, it has all the attributes of the most desirable franchises: in-demand products and services, a proven turnkey business system, experienced management with a history of success, and all the training you need to earn a life-changing income from home.
If you're looking for a home based franchise, CarbonCopyPRO deserves your serious consideration. It's one of the few opportunities on this page that won't demand all of your precious free time, because it's largely automated. Not only does it provide financial leverage, but through technology and outsourcing it also provides time leverage. With this business, you'll actually have time left at the end of the day to get out and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
It's also one of the few home-based franchise opportunities on this page that requires no inventory, no storage, and no employees. Because this business operates entirely on the Internet, it's also one of the few that's truly a home-based franchise opportunity business. You can run an extremely successful business without ever leaving your house.
In the interest of full disclosure, you should know that the author of this page is an owner of a CarbonCopyPRO business. In fact, you found this page (most likely via the search engines) because I applied the knowledge and skills I picked up from the training we receive with the system. It really does work.
It wasn't long ago that I was looking for a home based franchise opportunity business, like you. I was Chief Technology Officer of a corporation in Charlotte, North Carolina, and almost all of my time was spent at work. Now, things have changed. As a CarbonCopyPRO business owner, I'm applying my expertise to help thousands of people make the transition to owning a home-based franchise opportunity business. I would be honored to help you do the same.
This is one of the few home based franchises that is truly global. Your "location" is the Internet, the single largest marketplace ever created. There are no geographic boundaries whatsoever. You can work from anywhere, and sell products and services to clients located anywhere in the world.
To start your research into this best-of-breed home business system, just click the link above and fill out your name and email address. You'll gain access to a free tour that goes into complete detail on every aspect of the system. There's no obligation for looking. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

#2 - Jani-King
Interested in commercial cleaning? Jani-King may be just what you're looking for. Since 1974, Jani-King has been a leading franchiser in its market. Today, Jani-King excels as the worlds largest commercial cleaning franchise company with more than 12,500 franchise owners in 19 countries.
While this is classified as a "home-based franchise" by most franchise publications, keep in mind that you'll be managing employees, cleaning equipment and supplies, and more. If you don't have an office, employees will be coming and going from your home, and some kind of storage space will be required.

#3 - SERVPRO
If you're interested in restoration services, SERVPRO is the #1 franchise in its market. Founded in 1967, they are a leading franchisor of cleanup and restoration services for fire, water, mold, and more. According to their site, they have some 1,300+ franchises covering 49 states.
As with Jani-King above, this is classified as a "home based franchise opportunity business." But, you'll need somewhere to store the equipment and supplies used in your work, and you'll be managing a staff of local employees. This can be done from home, without a true office, but those who achieve any level of success will likely want an office.

#4 - Matco Tools
Are you a "car guy" (or gal?) Matco Tools is a 60-year old manufacturer and distributor of quality professional automotive equipment, tools, and toolboxes. They have been recognized as the "best automotive franchise" and one of the top home based franchises out there. That's because Matco Tools provides you with the guidance, training, potential customer base, marketing and the on-going support you need to start your business.
While this is a home-based franchise, it will require leaving the home (or hiring employees to visit clients for you.) Matco franchisees operate out of a "showroom on wheels," a truck that allows clients to browse and purchase a selection of Matco's 13,000 products on-site. As your list of clients grow, so will the number of employees you need to manage, and the number of trucks you have in the field.

#5 - Jazzercise
Interested in fitness? If so, Jazzercise may fit your routine. Founded in 1977, this company has more than 500,000 customers worldwide, in over 30 countries. It's trained more than 5,000 instructors on its total-body conditioning program that was the first to combine dance moves with aerobic excercise.
Yes, this is classified as a home-based franchise. But, unless you want to invite your customers to your home for their fitness classes, you'll need to secure space at a public venue in which to hold classes. As the number of participants in your classes grow, you'll also need to hire more Jazzercise-certified instructors. Obviously, you'll be required to leave your home on occasion to teach and/or observe classes, evaluate employee performance, review locations, etc.

#6 - WSI Internet
If you're more technically inclined, Toronto, Ontario based WSI Internet may be what you're looking for. Founded in 1995, this company's network of 1,500+ franchisees provide Internet services to small- and medium-sized businesses in more than 87 countries.
It may be possible to operate a WSI franchise entirely from home, but it will require clever use of communication technology such as audio and video conferencing, remote presentations, etc. It's far more likely that you or your employees will be visiting with the client on-site, at their office. And, as with most franchises on this page (except CarbonCopyPRO), the only way your business can scale is by hiring and managing additional skilled employees.

With over 1,000 franchisees across the United States, Budget Blinds offers customers free in-home consultations, measurements, and installation of a variety of name-brand window treatments.
Budget Blinds is similar to most of the businesses on this page. This home based franchise opportunity business requires storage, frequent visits to the homes of your customers, and the hiring and management of additional skilled employees as your business grows.

#8 - Candy Bouquet
Looking for something sweet? "Have fun while making money!" is the slogan of Candy Bouquet, a company founded in 1989 in Little Rock, Arkansas. In place of flowers, franchisees of this business make an impression with fun and creative arrangements of candy.
Though it is certainly possible to run a Candy Bouquet franchise entirely from your home, most franchisees will find it easier to acquire customers if they have a kiosk of storefront at a retail location. Like most of the opportunities on this page, Candy Bouquet obviously requires managing inventory of the supplies used to create its unique products, and management and training of employees as your business grows.

#9 - Coffee News
Have you always wanted to be a journalist? Coffee News is ideally suited as a home-based desktop publishing business. Founded in 1988 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Coffee News produces a weekly publication delivered to restaurants, coffee shops, and motels, and serves the advertising needs of small businesses in your area.
With hundreds of licensees in operation all over the world, Coffee News is categorized as a home based franchise. That said, you'll need storage space for your inventory of publications, and either you or your employees will be required to deliver those publications to your local points of distribution on a weekly basis.

#10 - Home Helpers
Enjoy helping people? With offices in over 600 markets in North America, Home Helpers is the leader in the Senior and Personal Care market. Some franchise owners may also qualify for their Direct Link program, which provides 24-hour Personal Emergency Response System (push-button emergency response for the elderly and disabled.)
While you don't need a storefront location to operate this franchise, you will need to manage employees, oversee the care of your customers, deal with complaints and conflict resolution, etc. As a disabled person and consumer of services like Home Helpers, I can tell you that it can be a tricky business. If you are prepared for a few challenges from time to time, though, it can also be a very rewarding one.

I agree $40.00 a month is nothing compared to what it costs to start up a business offline. I think what people do wrong is they look at it as a job rather then a business.
Thanks for the information Jeff. It makes you wonder why franchises charge so much for start-up costs? It also brings to mind one of my former quick service restaurant (QSR) clients.
Their relationship with their franchises had become very adversarial primarily because the franchisees wanted more flexibility in running their businesses. After all most of them had sunk their life savings into buying the franchise, not to mention their operational loans.
On the other hand the franchisers problem was they needed to maintain quality and consistency to protect and build brand consistency. The best way they saw to do that was to require outlets to purchase virtually everything from them! No matter how good the products were (or their prices) there were no competitive sources to order products from!
It's not wonder people felt trapped. When it's all said and done, competition is good! It is the best way to maintain the highest quality at the best price. Without competition nobody wins.
Good; and, thorough, Jeff.
Thanks Jeff, good information as always from you!
Thanks for the useful information.
Thanks Jeff! Very helpful information.

Thanks for sharing this reality check for folks who want to start a home based business. All too often I hear people complaining that investing $40 a month on interent business training or an internet business building tool is "Too Much"!
When compared to the very real up front costs of starting even a small franchise, it's a STEAL!
